On Thursday, November 17, YHPL will hold a book discussion on Lisa See’s Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. The program begins at 6:30 PM. Join us for a friendly conversation about a great book.
Praise from Publisher’s Weekly:
See’s engrossing novel set in remote 19th-century China details the deeply affecting story of lifelong, intimate friends Lily and Snow Flower, their imprisonment by rigid codes of conduct for women and their betrayal by pride and love… both a suspenseful and poignant story and an absorbing historical chronicle.

YHPL will have an opening on the Board of Trustees beginning in January. We are searching for a Town of Union or Village of Johnson City resident to help chart the future of the library.
The Board meets monthly, usually the second Monday of the month. Meetings tend to last around an hour depending on the agenda.
For more information, contact Library Director Steven Bachman at (607) 797-4816.
Applications are available at the library and by download. (Library Board Application)
Completed applications can be dropped off at the Circulation Desk or mailed to:
Your Home Public Library, 107 Main Street, Johnson City, NY 13790

Due to a growing lack of space we are not able to accept donations of used books for the rest of the year. We greatly appreciate the generosity of the community, but we just don’t have anywhere to put them.
You can help us out by coming to the Friends of the Library Book Sale on Saturday, October 29 from 9 AM to 2PM and taking a bunch of books, DVD’s, and videocassettes home. Most items sell for 25 cents each.
Plus, a Bag Sale will begin at noon: buy a paper bag for $2 and fill it up!
