Beginning this week, YHPL returns to its regular hours:
Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM – 8:30 PM
Friday & Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Library Book Sale – 9/18/10

The Friends of Your Home Public Library will hold a book sale on Saturday, September 18 from 9 AM to 2 PM.
Items for sale include donations and items withdrawn from the collection. Most items will sell for 25 cents each.

Your Home Public Library will be closed on Monday, September 6 in observance of Labor Day.

Book Discussion Program – Molokai – 9/16/10

On Thursday, September 16, YHPL will host a discussion of Molokai, by Alan Brennert at 6:30 PM. The discussion will take place in the library basement.

Molokai is the story of a young Hawaiian girl who contracts leprosy and is deported to the leper colony on the island of Molokai. Despite the macabre subject matter, the book has been praised for its deft handling of its protagonist’s struggle against the limitations of her disease.

Library Board Meeting recheduled

Due to a scheduling conflict the Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Monday, August 9 has been postponed.
The meeting will be held Monday, August 16 at 5:30 PM.

Auto Repair Online!

Your Home Public Library has added another useful database for our patrons - Auto Repair Reference Center!

You can use this database to access repair manuals and diagrams for a wide variety of cars & trucks. Follow the link above- or check out the full list of databases on the Online Databases page – you’ll need you library card to get in.

Access to these databases is made possible through cooperation with other libraries and the Four County Library System.

Check Out More DVD’s

YHPL’s collection of DVD’s continues to grow! We now have over 1,300 DVD’s!
Because of that growth, we have raised the checkout limit from 3 to 5.
Patrons may now checkout Five (5) DVD’s at a time.

Calling all teen Twilight fans!

The Your Home Public Library and the Broome County Public library will co-host a Twilight: Eclipse program for teens ages 11 – 18 on Tuesday, June 29^th at 7 p.m. at the Your Home Public Library, 107 Main Street, Johnson City.

The program will include a trivia quiz, scavenger hunt, door prizes, and t-shirt decorating (participants must provide the shirt, we will provide craft supplies) . Admission is free. Registration requested. For more information, call the YHPL at 797-4816, or BCPL at 778-6456.

Preschool Storytimes resume

The summer session of Preschool Storytimes will be held at the Your Home Public Library on Monday evenings at 6:30, beginning June 28^th and running through August 9^th. (No storytime on Monday, July 5^th, due to the Fourth of July weekend.) The programs are for children ages 3 – 5 and their caregivers. Activities will include books, fingerplays, rhymes, games, crafts, and more. No registration is required. Call the library at 797-4816 for more information.
