Join us on Tuesday, July 8 at 6:30 PM to discuss Where’d You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple. It all begins when 15-year-old Bee aces her report card and claims her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. For her eccentric, agoraphobic mother, Bernadette, Seattle is bad enough—a trip to the end of the earth is impossible. Before they can set out, Bernadette disappears. To find her, Bee compiles email messages, official documents, and secret correspondence—creating a compulsively readable and touching novel about misplaced genius and a mother and daughter's role in an absurd world. Book discussions are held in the basement meeting room, and are free and open to the public!
