Library Director Opening

Your Home Public Library, Johnson City, NY, is accepting applications for the position of Library Director II. The library has 11 full and part-time Staff and an annual budget of $630,000, approved by the voters November 2008. The library is a member of the Four County Library System and is fully automated.

Minimum qualifications: Possession of an ALA accredited MLS degree and four years professional experience, with at least one year in an administrative/supervisory capacity. Must have or be eligible for the New York State Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate.

Applicants should be fluent in the use of computer technology to deliver library service and have the ability to manage all aspects of the library program, including collection development, hiring and supervising of library staff, preparing and monitoring a budget, public relations, and supervising the general maintenance of the building and grounds. The Director’s schedule includes evening and Saturday hours.  This position qualifies for the New York State Retirement System.

Library Director II is a classified position subject to a Civil Service examination comprised of an evaluation of education and work experience.

Salary range: $60,000 – 63,000
