Your Home Public Library has contracted with Unique Management Services to assist in recovering non-returned library materials and unpaid fines.
Too many books and DVD’s have been checked out and not returned, making them unavailable for use by our patrons.
YHPL feels this is a necessary step to safeguard our collection – to protect tax-payer dollars.
Beginning Tuesday, February 21, 2012 all unresolved accounts will be turned over to Unique Management Services. A service charge of $10.00 will be added to each referred account.
From that day forward, the overdue process will be as follows:
- At 14 days overdue, the library sends or e-mails an overdue notice
- At 28 days overdue, the library sends a second notice noting the cost of the item
- At 38 days overdue, accounts of $25 or more are forwarded to Unique Management Services & a $10 charge is added to the account
- Unique contacts patrons to encourage the return of overdue materials and the payment of all outstanding charges
- Over the next 120 days, Unique will make several attempts to contact patrons by mail and by phone.
- After 120 days, a total of 158 days overdue, Unique will report non-responsive patrons to a credit reporting agency, which can affect an individual’s credit rating for up to seven years.
For more information, contact the library at (607) 797-4816. Thank you for helping us ensure than everyone has access to materials at Your Home Public Library.
